2021 Senter, CPA Year in Review

by | Dec 28, 2021 | Community, Team

What a Year It Has Been!

… I think we say that every year.

I think we all had hoped COIVD would be a term we’d no longer be using, but unfortunately, that just wasn’t the case. Although it’s still prevalent, and while there has been a lot of bad news in the media and heartache in our personal lives, we have still witnessed a lot of good in the world. It is encouraging to see folks step-up and find a way to continue working together and doing good in light of many challenges.

We’ve honestly had an incredible year here at Senter, CPA. We’ve been busy assisting clients, contributing to our communities, and growing our team. We are now a team of 5. Wow! That’s hard to believe in less than 4 years.

We definitely contribute our success to our wonderful clients who value our services and who have been quick to tell their friends, family, and colleagues about us. We value the work we do and consider it our duty to add value to our clients and to be a contributing part in our communities.

As always, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for the overwhelming response from our amazing clientele. Because of you, we were able to overcome all obstacles, and continue to grow and flourish as a firm, and as a team, in service to our community. We are very grateful.

The Senter Family

Our family is doing wonderful. Mine & Cassie’s 3 wonderful children are growing too quickly. Ben (14), Waylon (5), and Charlotte (3). We are a wild bunch and never boring. It’s fun!

Ben is into guitars, Waylon is into video games, and Charlotte, well she loves her kitty cat toys.

Our year consisted of hard work, a few trips to Tennessee to visit family, a few trips to various places up north, weddings, as well as the normal activities of work and school.

We work hard but play hard.

To Our Clients and Friends

Without our clients, friends, and supporters, we would not be where we are today. So we want to say a huge THANK YOU for your continued support, your value of our services, and for being flexible in the way we served you these past two years.

We genuinely enjoy what we do and are excited to continue to serve you, to grow as a TEAM, and to be supporters of our communities and beyond.

We hope you made the best of 2021, and we want to wish you a successful 2022! We sure are excited for the future here at Senter CPA and look forward to journeying along side of you.

We are always here for you and look forward to seeing you soon. In the meantime, please feel free to call us at 248-934-0550 or contact us HERE. Federal Updates on Tip And Overtime Tax Deductions

Recent federal tax legislation introduced new deductions related to qualified tip income and overtime pay. These changes may benefit eligible employees while also creating additional reporting responsibilities for employers. At Senter CPA, we are helping both businesses and individual taxpayers understand how these rules apply and how to stay compliant.

1099 Filing Requirements Update! Yes, this is good news!

The reporting amount threshold has increased. Yes, you read that right! The old $600 filing requirement for 1099-MISC & 1099-NECs has been increased to $2,000, with some minor exceptions.

To jog your memory, if you need it, you are required to file 1099s to those who you pay for rent, contract labor (not through your payroll), interest, etc. The 1099-MISC is most commonly used to report rent, while the 1099-NEC is mostly used to report non-employee compensation to most everyone.

Mid-Year Financial Checkup Checklist: Are You on Track for 2026?

Summer is a good time to check in on your finances. The year is already halfway over, which makes it easier to see what’s working and what might need attention. Maybe your income has changed. Maybe you’ve spent more than expected or fallen behind on a savings goal.

Understanding Quarterly Estimated Tax Payments

If you’re self-employed, a freelancer, or a small business owner, quarterly estimated tax payments are an important part of staying current with your federal tax obligations. Because taxes typically aren’t withheld from self-employment income, the IRS requires many taxpayers to pay taxes throughout the year instead of waiting until they file their annual return. Making timely estimated payments can help avoid a large tax bill and potential underpayment penalties.

Why I Visit Our Accounting Clients

Every couple of years, I spend part of my summer leaving the office.

That probably sounds strange coming from a CPA.

Have You Moved Recently? Make Sure the IRS Has Your New Address

Moving into a new home is an exciting milestone, but one important task is often overlooked: updating your address with the IRS.

Sunshine and Spreadsheets: A Bookkeeper’s Summer

Summer means different things to different people.
For some, it’s beach vacations, backyard BBQs, and long weekends.

Mileage Matters. Don’t Let Those Miles Go to Waste! Let Them Reduce Your Tax Bill!

Do you own your own business? If so, make sure you are not missing this one simple deduction! If you use your car for work, your mileage could be saving you money on taxes.

What to Bring to Your First CPA Appointment as a Small Business Owner

Walking into your first CPA appointment as a small business owner can feel a little intimidating. You might wonder if you’re bringing the right paperwork, if your records are organized enough, or if your CPA is about to discover the “creative bookkeeping system” you’ve been using since opening day.

Never Miss a Quarterly Estimated Tax Payment Again: TaxDome Keeps You on Track
