Welcome to the Senter, CPA Team – Rana Boykin

by | Dec 22, 2022 | Team

Hello! My name is Rana. Yes, my name sounds just like the character Rayna James on the TV show Nashville, except that I spell it different and I like to claim that I made it hip before she came along.  I’ll be working seasonally during the busy tax season to help clients with their annual tax filing needs.  I worked with Matt in the public accounting industry when we both lived in the Franklin, Tennessee area and I’m excited to be working with him again as part of the Senter, CPA team.  For the past twelve years I have managed my own bookkeeping business handling the part-time accounting needs of several small clients from my home office.  I have also worked as tax accountant preparing individual, corporate and partnership income tax returns during the busy tax season for a small, local CPA firm. I appreciated working for several years with a small firm where I could service the same tax clients year after year and build a relationship with many of them.  Due to some changes at my previous firm it was time for me to find a new firm “home” so I was happy to learn that Matt had a place just for me as a seasonal tax accountant.

I grew up in a small Central Florida town and earned my BS in Accounting and MS in Taxation from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!).  I am also the third generation in my family to be a proud football season ticket holder at “The Swamp” where we love cheering on our Florida Gators.  I have lived in the Nashville area since 2007. I currently live in Goodlettsville, Tennessee with my partner of thirteen years, Mike.  He has a grown son and we are happy empty nesters.  We love to travel and scuba dive together.  We typically take a couple of international trips every year with the exception of the last couple of years when international travel was “challenging”.  Our last big trip was in May 2021 to Egypt for a week of scuba diving in the Red Sea followed by a week long river cruise down the Nile exploring the antiquities from Luxor to Aswan and finished up with exploring the Great Pyramids in Cairo.  It was spectacular!  We are finally back on schedule with our trips and are looking forward to traveling to Scotland (again) and St Lucia next year followed by the Philippines the year after that.

In my free time, when I’m not traveling or scuba diving I enjoy visiting with my family, watching college football, NHL hockey and reading.  I look forward to being part of the Senter, CPA team.

Always remember, Senter, CPA is here for you if you need any assistance.

How to Document Charitable Donations for Tax Deductions

Accurate documentation is essential when claiming charitable contributions on your tax return. The IRS requires specific records depending on the type and value of your donations. Maintaining proper records ensures your contributions are deductible and helps you avoid issues if your return is ever reviewed.

How to make Federal & State Income Tax Payments (update January 2026)

Paying federal and Michigan income taxes is pretty straightforward and are now required to be paid online.

What are QCD’s?

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are a tax-efficient way for eligible IRA owners to support charitable organizations while managing taxable income. Individuals who are age 70½ or older may donate up to $108,000 in 2025 directly from a traditional IRA to a qualified charity. When structured properly, a QCD is excluded from taxable income, may satisfy Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) requirements, and can help reduce overall tax liability.

Common Tax Documentation for 2025 Tax Season

Getting your tax documents organized for your preparer can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. One of the most common questions we hear is, “What documents do I need for my individual tax return?”

Reflecting on 2025, Senter CPA has experienced significant growth and success, both personally and professionally. As we roll into 2026, we’re heading into our ninth year as a firm. That’s wild. It honestly feels like just yesterday that we unlocked the doors on January 1, 2018.

URGENT: New Electronic Payment Requirements

Tax season is getting a serious tech upgrade.

New Schedule C Excel Worksheet For 2025

If you file Schedule C as a sole proprietor or single-member LLC, you already know how detailed the IRS can be. The form requires a thorough breakdown of your business income and expenses, leaving little room for guesswork. Schedule C is the primary IRS form used to report your business’s profit or loss and completing it accurately is essential for both compliance and tax planning.

New Schedule E Excel Worksheet For 2025

If you report rental income on Schedule E, you already know the IRS wants your numbers broken out by category and by property. Schedule E is the main IRS form used to report rental real estate income and expenses on your personal return, and clean detail makes prep faster and cuts down on follow-ups.
