Wreaths Across America

by | Nov 9, 2020 | Community

In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11th, we would like to highlight Wreaths Across America, an organization whose mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach about our U.S Veterans.

Remember our fallen U.S. Veterans
Honor those who serve
Teach your children the value of freedom.

Since 1992 Wreaths Across America has set out to honor every fallen hero with a wreath laid at their grave site every holiday season. This year through generous corporate and private donations they hope to honor each veteran by placing over 2.2 million wreaths at over 1,200 national cemeteries around the world.  Included is Michigan’s own Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly which provides over 30,000 internments.

Each year, local trucking company, Matrix Expedited Service donates transportation services for several truckloads of hand-crafted wreaths from the Wreaths Across America headquarters in Columbia Falls, MA to the Great Lakes National Cemetery.  In order to help Wreaths Across America attain their goal, Matrix Expedited Great Lakes National Wreath Fund has a goal of sponsoring 2,500 wreaths in 2020.

On December 19, 2020, at 12:00PM in coordination with the annual wreath laying at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA wreaths will be ceremoniously laid upon the graves of our country’s heroic veterans who have lost their lives. To help Matrix and Wreaths Across America honor as many fallen heroes as possible, members of the public can sponsor a wreath and or volunteer at the wreath laying event.

We would like to thank all sponsors and volunteers in advance, as every wreath and gift of time is greatly appreciated.

Due to Covid-19 certain details of the wreath laying event will change in 2020 from other years. If interested in volunteering in person at the wreath laying event it is especially important to register on the website in order to receive detailed instructions regarding Covid-19 precautions.
