An Enrolled Agent vs CPA

by | Oct 3, 2024 | Accounting, Tax

Established in 1884 by President Chester Arthur, the role of an enrolled agent is to serve as a licensed representative for taxpayers, authorized by the Internal Revenue Service to file tax returns and provide expert tax advice. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), first licensed in 1896, also assist with tax matters but offer a broader range of services. In addition to tax preparation, CPAs can prepare audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements.

Both enrolled agents and CPAs are required to uphold high ethical standards and complete ongoing education each year to maintain their licenses. Therefore, whether you choose an enrolled agent or a CPA, you can rest assured that you are in capable hands. Our firm is proud to have both types of licensed professionals, with Jordan successfully completing her enrolled agent certification in 2023 and Matt earning his CPA license in 2015. Tracy, as our newest member of Team Senter is currently studying for her CPA license and is scheduled to take her final test before the end of the year.

Always remember, Senter, CPA is here for you if you need any assistance.
